The Story
Influenced by the likes of Dj Premier, The Rza, and The Beatnuts, the late 90’s marked the beginning. Starting for the sole purpose of providing local Philadelphia group “The Logistics” with a musical backdrop, the beginnings were humble to say the least. From a gemini DJ sampler, some vinyl and ACID Pro v1.0, tracks were created and a revolution began. The Logistics built a presence as one of Philadelphia’s top groups, and created a rap scene for the Northeast area. After the release of the second LP, “NE Originators” all the members went solo and Hundred Proof Music was born (under the previous name of Sicknin Productions).
As the name grew, so did the members. John Katz came on to supply bass, and Jay Gza came on to provide management, and this is where we are today.
Since 2005, Hundred Proof Music has been fortunate enough to work with some of the greatest names in Underground Hip Hop. From legends like Killah Priest to rising stars like AOTP’s Doap Nixon, the artists have been the ones that helped put Hundred Proof Music on the map.
